Perspectives of cooperation between Lithuania's LITNET and AzScienceNet discussed 05.07.2019 15:24 / CONFERENCES, ASSEMBLIES

On July 4, at the Presidium of ANAS held a meeting with the specialists from Lithuania's LITNET research and education network - Eimantas Serpenskas, Vilius Palubinskas and Justas Umbrasas. The meeting was attended by the vice-president of ANAS, director of the institute, academician Rasim Alguliyev, head of International relations department of the institute, Ph.D., Babak Nabiyev and chief specialist of institute’s Department No4. Tural Mustafayev.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev welcomed the guests and informed about the activities of the institute, and noted that research in Big Data analytics, cybersecurity, software engineering, electronic science, information economy, social networks analysis and other fields are being conducted in line with innovative requirements.

Academician R.Aliguliyev said that the AzScienceNet science network of the institute has great potential for integration of science and education in the country. Along with scientific research institutes of ANAS, educational institutions of the country have the opportunity to benefit from AzScienceNet and Data Center.

Specialists from LITNET informed about training on "Establishment and development of identification federation" for the staff of AzScienceNet. It was noted that at the training the basics, standards, and solutions on architectures, selection of appropriate software and architecture, the establishment of local federations, joining EduGAIN service and support for the installation of EduRoam service were taught.

Afterward, Eimantas Serpenskas shared his impressions on his visit to Azerbaijan. The guest told about the network LITNET, which is a member of the GEANT Association, and it has six technical centers. He stressed that LITNET is always interested in cooperation with the Institute of Information Technology within the EapConnect project of GEANT.

In the end, discussions were held on enhancing the capabilities of AzScienceNet, regular attendance of institute’s staff in training organized by the LITNET.
