Main scientific achievements 

The scientific-research works were done about the rare plants belonging to the flora and fauna biodiversity of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, their modern position in nature, protection and productive use.

The modern position of higher plants in the flora of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was studied. The flora spectrum on higher plants was prepared for the first time, modest position of the existing kinds in the territory was explored, the medical and technical opportunities of about more than 700 plants out in more than 1000 plant kinds were shown, defining the endemic, rare and endangered plant kinds the plan for their protection and “Red Book” of the flora of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic were prepared. More than 100 plant kinds, species and genuses were added to the flora of the territory, which 3 kinds of them are new for the Caucasian flora. The areal and natural resource of the poisonous and official herbs was defined.

The lichen flora of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was defined to consist of 38 genuses, 83 species, 347 kinds, 6 varieties and 5 forms for the first time. 17 genuses, 35 species and 138 kinds of them were noted for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and 6 kinds for Caucasian lixenoflora for the first time. 17 genuses and 35 species were shown for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic lixenoflora for the first time. The botanical-geographical analysis of the flora was done, the spread problems of the kinds on geographical and areal types were defined.

The spread intensity, its highness zones were defined. The antropogen dynamics, tolerant kinds and their spread according to zones were studied and five different zones differing for its ecology within middle mountainous and higher mountainous climates were defined. The antropogen transformations happening in these zones, modern position of the soil-plant cover, comparative characteristics of the kinds on zones were studied. The rare and endangering lichen types of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic were determined, in the result, the areal of 47 kinds to become smaller and measures for their protection were prepared. According to the results of the scientific research works for learning saffron in the Autonomous Republic this plant is enough suitable for the soil-climate positions of the region and to be productive was proved. The influence of its cultivation and cultivating times, irrigation positions on biological grown of saffron, flourishing and productivity was studied and great results were gained from the economical view point. Introduction works of some local and foreign trees and bushes were done, their use was recommended in gardening and in greenery of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

For the first time the plants belonging to Campanula – CampanulaceaeJuss. genus in the flora of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic were studied in detail. The systematic content, bioecological features and fitosenological groups of the plants belonging to Campanulaceae the flora of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The kind diversity of the Campanulaceaegenus was explored, 3 species, 20 kinds and 6 varieties belonging to this genus were revealed. The modern taxonomic spectrum of the Campanulaceae genus in the Autonomous Republic was drawn, geographical-areal analysis was done, the geographical elements and areal types were defined. The fitosenoses and rare associatiations formed during the geobotanical research of Campanulaceaes were studied, their fitosenological classification was given, the content of the associations were studied, senoseformings were defined. Position of the 7 rare kinds of this genus existing in the Red Books of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was investigated, the areal of 4 of them was defined and the 2 kinds’ becoming more and more rare day-by-day was revealed.
